English test- Letter to uncle on smoking (1)

Dear Uncle,

how have you been doing? It has been a long time since we met and I noticed that you smoke a lot. Are you still smoking as usual? I read an article about smoking recently and you flashed through my mind after reading it.

I strongly urge you to consider quitting smoking because smoking is bad for health. It causes a lot of different kind of diseases like cancer, heart disease and stroke.

In addition, do you know that each cigarette contains 400 different kind of poisonous chemicals and more than 50 of them are cancer-causing substances? That means that in every cigarette you puff, you are putting your life at risk by inhaling all these poisonous chemicals.

Lastly, it is measured that seven Singaporeans die prematurely from smoking related diseases almost everyday and approximately 90% of lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking.

I hope that you will consider giving up this bad habit after reading this. Quit this habit for your own health and for the sake of your family.

Yours sincerely,
Jxxxxx
